In the Formal Garden is a durational work that moves through three phases of improvisation. Observation of a singular plant species, Moving to embody those observations, and Remembering a movement from each observed plant to create a phrase. By the end of the piece a dance sequence is created from the improvisation. The work was developed at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation during the Interdisciplinary Artist Residency and is a score used in many of my creation processes.
